Northside Hospital partnered with Array to advance a master plan for its growing Forsyth campus, adding a six-story patient tower, strengthening hospital connections, and expanding critical care capacity.
With one of the fastest-growing populations in the country, Northside Hospital Forsyth needed a clear strategy to expand while preserving its strong identity and operational integrity. Array led the development of a campus-wide master plan that emphasized continuity, clinical excellence, and patient-centered growth.
Rather than replacing what was already working, the plan focused on enhancing the strengths of the existing campus. A new six-story patient tower, surgical suite expansion, renovated ED, and intuitive wayfinding upgrades were all designed to align with current operations. These updates maintain consistency in access and circulation while enabling future growth.
The project not only increases patient capacity and supports service line expansion—it also reflects Northside’s enduring commitment to resilient infrastructure, clinical precision, and a healing environment rooted in the needs of its community.
New Six-Story Patient Tower:
- 273,708 SF new addition
- 56,189 SF of renovations
- Includes med/surg, ICU, and intermediate care beds
- Connected to the existing surgical tower
Emergency Department Expansion:
- Full renovation and additional ED entry
Central Sterile Processing Department:
- New construction for sterilization and support functions
Surgical Support Spaces:
- Expanded operating suites and prep areas
Unified Entry & Lobby:
- Redesign improves wayfinding and strengthens the patient experience
Infrastructure Enhancements:
- 460-space parking garage
- 24,600 SF central energy plant for resilience
- 18,235 SF pharmacy aligned with USP 797/800 compliance
