The Story

After opening its new Mullica Hill hospital, Inspira Health relocated acute care services from its Woodbury campus while maintaining a commitment to emergency and behavioral health access for the local community. To support that commitment, Inspira developed a new two-story pavilion adjacent to the existing Woodbury building, creating a state-of-the-art home for the remaining services on campus.

The first floor houses a satellite emergency department designed for low-acuity visits, with 20 private treatment rooms, imaging, lab support, trauma and resuscitation space, and SANE consult and examination areas. Larger treatment rooms support inclusive family-team care, while four crisis rooms with secured headwalls provide a safer and calmer environment for patients in crisis.

On the second floor, the inpatient behavioral health center includes 20 private rooms in a single-occupancy, short-term configuration that is first of its kind in the region. The unit improves privacy and safety while offering dedicated social and group spaces, shared dining, support areas, and an open floor plan that promotes well-being.

A protected roof terrace gives patients access to outdoor recreation and horticultural therapy, reinforcing the project’s focus on dignity, healing, and recovery. Together, the emergency department and behavioral health program allow Inspira to continue serving Woodbury with modernized, purpose-built care.
