The Story
As Capital Health transitioned from its longstanding Mercer campus, the vision for the new Hopewell Medical Center was bold: unify world-class inpatient care, specialty clinics, and wellness services within a connected, hospitality-forward environment. Working with HKS, Array delivered on that vision with a new greenfield facility that elevated regional access to advanced care.
The master plan included a 223-bed inpatient hospital, an integrated comprehensive cancer center, and a connected medical office building—all supported by expanded diagnostic and treatment capabilities. The site strategy emphasized intuitive circulation, daylighting, and flexibility, with landscaped courtyards and public amenities anchoring the design.
Interior design focused on warmth, comfort, and clarity. The use of natural materials, consistent wayfinding, and generous public spaces helped ease patient navigation and reinforce Capital Health’s brand identity. At every level, the design promotes operational efficiency while creating a welcoming, healing-focused experience.
